"Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017" This bill amends the federal criminal code to allow a qualified individual to carry a concealed handgun into or possess a concealed handgun in another state that allows individuals to carry concealed firearms.
The second amendment reads very clearly, “…the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Fourteen words, something so simple in its declaration and yet clearly a nightmare to legislate. It was once said, “I carry a gun because carrying a police officer would be too heavy.” As Americans, we need to have the ability to protect ourselves when the need arises.
Laws designed to protect us by disarming the populace do not work. Every state in our nation recognizes this and it is for this very reason that all 50 states have conceal carry laws. The problem is there is no reciprocity between the states. This means that every time you cross a state line you need to worry as to whether or not you are in violation of the law.
There is reason to believe that this may have been settled constitutionally. The second Amendment allows the carrying of a gun and the fourteenth amendment would prohibit the taking of this right without due process. It is same reasoning that all marriage licenses must be accepted across state lines.
It is time that we stood up and demanded that we have the right to protect ourselves regardless of state lines. It is time that we were given a concealed carry reciprocity law.

'Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017'
"A qualified individual must: (1) be eligible to possess, transport, or receive a firearm under federal law; (2) carry a valid photo identification document; and (3) carry a valid concealed carry permit issued by any state or be eligible to carry a concealed firearm in his or her state of residence."
"Additionally, the bill specifies that a qualified individual who lawfully carries or possesses a concealed handgun in another state: (1) is not subject to the federal prohibition on possessing a firearm in a school zone, and (2) may carry or possess the concealed handgun in federally owned lands that are open to the public."
We the people do not have our own personal security details. It is incumbent upon ourselves to ensure that we are protected from those that wish to do us imminent harm.
We should be able to travel throughout this incredible country of ours without needing to worry as to whether or not we are violating the law for simply wanting to use our constitutional right to carry a handgun.
This is common sense and it is time that you enacted this legislation. We demand a national reciprocity law for us to be allowed to conceal carry per the law of our state throughout every state in this nation.
